Are Trichologist Doctors?

A Trichologist is someone who has studied the hair science of Trichology; and therefore is able to diagnose and treat those who are suffering from hair and scalp issues.

So are Trichologist doctors?  The answer is maybe.

In order to study Trichology a person must first be accredited as either a Dermatologist or a Cosmotologist.  Then they can pursue further study into the Science of Trichology.  Therefore, Trichologist from the Dermatology side are doctors and the those from the Cosmotology side are not.

The Trichologist working at Miret Trichology Institute come from the Cosmotology Branch and have over 15 years experience working in this field.

They have taken extensive training on specifically on this

The definition of Trichology is: "the science of the scalp and hair in health and disease".  A Trichologist is academically trained in the biology and disorders of the scalp & hair.

Trichology is the branch of medicine and cosmetology that deals with the scientific study of the health of hair and scalp.  Trichologists themselves are not normally licensed healthcare workers, although members of the medical profession can undertake courses and/or careers within Trichology.

Trichologists are able to advise on, diagnose and treat a wide range of hair loss, hair conditions and scalp problems.  Hair is a very sensitive 'barometer' to imbalances in the body - factors such as poor nutrition, medical or genetic problems, medication and stress can adversely affect their hair and scalp.
